Our Heritage
The Giorgio name goes back to 1928 when Pietro Giorgi built his first mushroom houses in Temple, Pennsylvania.
The story of Giorgio begins with a dream, a family, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
In 1923, Pietro and Elvira Giorgi left Ascoli Piceno, Italy, in search of opportunity in America. Five years later, they built their first mushroom houses in Temple, Pennsylvania, laying the foundation for what would become one of the world's leading mushroom companies.
Nearly a century later, Giorgio remains proudly family-owned and guided by the same values that shaped the business from the very beginning: integrity, hard work, quality, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Across four generations, the company has grown from a small local grower into a vertically integrated organization that serves customers throughout North America and beyond, while continuing to invest in innovation, sustainability, and the future of agriculture.
While our company has evolved, our purpose has remained remarkably consistent—to grow exceptional mushrooms, care for our people, and build lasting relationships with customers, partners, and communities. Every decision we make honors the legacy of those who came before us while embracing the opportunities ahead. As we approach our centennial, we remain inspired by our heritage and committed to cultivating a future defined by innovation, stewardship, and the enduring values of family.
